About

Electronics rests on questions we still cannot fully answer. We’ve gathered five that connect the physics of devices with the limits of communication, control, and quantum information.

The name takes inspiration from the Clay Mathematics Institute’s Millennium Prize Problems: precise, difficult questions whose answers would deepen a field. This is Buildbox Labs’ proposed selection for electronics and EE, independent of Clay and without an associated prize.

Some entries ask for a mathematical resolution; others need a physical discovery or an explanation tested against experiments. Each has a research history worth understanding. The linked papers are a starting point, and the questions will evolve as the work does.

If you study one of these problems, we’d love to hear from you. Help us make the statements sharper, point us to new results, or suggest a question that belongs here.
